~*~ giveaway~*~

I interrupt the August Break 2011, for a giveaway.
I have sold my 600th item in my Etsy shop, Vintage Snaps and Scraps.  For this occasion, I gave a 20.00 credit to the person who bought that item, and I would like to have a giveaway as well.
Just leave me a comment to be in the giveaway, easy peasy.  If you win and these items are not your taste, feel free to gift them to someone who might like them...  I know frilly is not everyone's cup of tea.
I have a framed collage, a small chunky journal, a little trinket box and a couple Marie Antoinette tags.
I will pick the winner, next Sunday.
Thanks for stopping by, and good luck....

Winner is #1...Shell!
Thanks to all of you for joining in my giveaway...xo

prim to "all dressed up"

One day, I will remember to take BEFORE photos.
This is a little primitive pin keep that I had among some sewing items in a vignette.  Gone is the vignette, remember the purge of last week?  I bought this needle case from a lady on Ebay years ago.  I saw as something a bit different and decided to see what I got.
The fabric is a blue floral print and some wonderful ticking.  I added a bit of lace and some vintage findings including this corner bracket that adorned an antique frame.  I made the little rolled flower from some old lace, with an old pearl as the center.  Tucked away is the mini collage I created with another image from Kim's wonderful collection.  You can find her digital photos, here.  They are spectacular...

PLAYING WITH TINTYPES

I really love to use these tintypes in my art; somehow they just feel so sweet.  Today, with the gadget's we have, taking a picture is so irrelevant.  But back in the day, you may only have one or two photographs of yourself, let alone your family.  They are just so unique and "worth" seeing and touching...Such solemn faces, and sometimes blurs from the long wait of the camera...just find it so interesting.  Anyway, here are a couple new pieces, using these photographs.

~ART FROM THE HEART~

I have thought long and hard on this sale, will I be minimizing my value as an artist? Will this look to cheap? Let me tell you why I am willing to let some of these pieces go now, I feel I am stretching my wings and going into a new direction. I would love to have these pieces go to someone who loves them, as I do. Enjoy~

ART THERAPY

I was thrilled to see that my local Hobby Lobby was now offering Art Therapy classes...my ears perked up when I saw my friend post the link on Face book.  I have always wanted to know what it is like to paint and I have so many art friends who do.  I immediately clicked ATTENDING.
Our project image
So I went minus my friend who was out of town, off I got to Hobby Lobby and who do I see, but my friend Jill.  The teach was so nice and we had the best time.  Mind you, other that paint by number, I am so ignorant at how to paint, and a bit tense when I looked at the big white, blank canvas...
Here is my friend Jill:
And me,
Having so much fun and learning....and chatting...and just thrilled to be there.  The class was to be from 10-12, but we ended up staying until a bit after 2:00, lol.
This is my finished canvas....I did work on it a bit more at home...after buying many NEW art supplies.....
I enjoyed this so much, that I booked the teacher Mary, and she will be coming to my house and teaching 4 of my friends for our next Girls Night Out...I will be sure to post photos of that....

MORE FABRIC COLLAGE

I have been having much fun using fabrics again, or should I say still.  This time I made an altered book...oh what a great time, but it did take so much time to create.  I have 2 more book forms, not sure if I will attempt another one to put in my shop.  But I plan to make one for myself using my beloved tintypes.
Here is a peek of the one I made:

And these, made from book covers...

Who says you have to know how to sew, to play with fabric.....Not when you have glue....
