inspiration avenue challenge
This assemblage necklace is my entry this week for Inspiration Avenue, this is the first week I am entering...excited.
This weeks theme is wings.
My "broken angel" has silver wings, actually she has wings made from some vintage Brighton earrings...

THE LADIES CHATEAU
This is a ladies chateau, a ladies house… You will see the women when you peek inside the windows. This is a fun and flirty collage. I just had fun with this one, some might not like the ladies, I do....lol. We see what some of the ladies are up to, by looking inside...someone needs to let them know a visitor is approaching the door~
This was a decorated Christmas cottage box that I found at Tuesday Morning. I added paper, acrylics and gesso to get my background.
This house is available in my Etsy shop, Vintage Snaps and Scraps.

4 MIXED MEDIA HOW TO BOOKS FOR SALE IN MY ETSY SHOP
I have decided to clean and purge my art room. I am a self taught artist and these books were some of my inspiration and taught me many things. I haven't used them in so long so I decided to list them at almost 30% off. So if you are interested, please go to my shop and take a peek. Here is what is available...

MIXED MEDIA NECKLACE ASSEMBLAGE
Well, today I stretched my wings a bit. Or is it flexed my wings? Well how about, stepped out of my artist box? I have had requests to make collage jewelry for my Etsy shop. I never really had a desire to do so, but I must remember to create for others and not so much myself. I am not the type that would wear a brooch or necklace, but they are out there, so I know some do. Anyhow, I received an antique manicure set from my friend Rayann, in a bundle of vintage jewelry...and I looked at it yesterday and my muse tugged at me and I thought "why not". So this is my first attempt at an altered necklace. It was fun, and if I again find something to create on....and my muse is with me...I might just do it again.

MIXED MEDIA MONDAY
Well, be still my heart. I happened to check in with Mixed Media Monday this week and I saw the theme is DOLLS. So funny that I had a piece in the works, drying on my art table. So here is my enty for the week.
I painted this clock with acrylics and gesso. I used a piece from an old linen in the bottom of the insert. Then I added a bit of vintage black beaded trim, fabulous trim. The focal point is the vintage doll head; it is in the bisque form. I named this one WISH, and added a tiny brass finding to the top, as well as a beautiful old earring that sits on the top. There is a strand of pearls and some other jewelry pieces scattered on the lace.

A FEW ALTERED BOTTLES...
I have wanted to sit at my art table and create...but time was not on my side really. I did have time to create a few altered assemblages. This one is a vintage salt shaker, using one of my favorite images, the frozen Charlotte.
And this one is an old brown bottle I got from my friend Bridgette. She dug it up in her yard putting in a flower bed, along with a few others. I want to sneak in her yard some night when she is sleeping and see what other treasures are there...
Finally I am showing you an old antique insulator; it is a deep blue color, lovely! I still have lots of these, and plan to make some more of them...Let's see if this one sells? I hope to have an all day art day tomorrow and maybe I can share some more goodies. ~live artfully~

ART FILLED WEEKEND
This has been a very productive weekend art-wise. Is that a word? I have felt a bit out of sorts with my art, seemed my muse has been absent some days or scatter brained like me...but I did have a few projects going this weekend and finished most of them. The first is another assemblage, this time I am using an old sewing machine drawer.
Then I finally got around to creating something with the baby booties I picked up in Pa. while home for the holidays. I love making assemblages from the little shoes, these were no exception. The softness and wear on these shoes, just touches my heart. I know, I know...some are thinking....WHY! Just because I guess.

And finally, here I have an altered box. This is the sweetest little wooden box. Again, many years of use on this box...it beckoned for some more attention. I left the top simple and then used the inside to tell the story. I used the lid to the silver jewel box I broke...(lol) and then used a coveted tin type. For the inside. It is called "time rushes by".
To top it off, we had wonderful weather in La. this weekend. Bright blue skies and cool breezes...just perfect weather. To bad it will not last long. Soon will be hot and humid once again. I enjoy these treats when we have them.

I BROKE A SILVERPLATE JEWELRY BOX...
WHAT TO DO!
There is a lot to this one, although it is small. Let’s start with the silver jewelry box, so frilly and feminine. On top of the little silver box is a vintage jewelry piece with a small embroidered butterfly, and a miniature bone china puppy. Inside I used a small white crocheted doily as a liner, an onyx jewelry piece and a section from vintage pink pearls. Now for the focal point, I have a large vintage finding with a cabochon stone. On the other side of that, I have this sweet collage. The cut out is from a vintage photograph, a darling little girl holding her doll. I dressed the top of this piece up with a section on a rhinestone bracelet, beautiful.

DOLL ASSEMBLAGE #2
I made this piece with a bisque doll head, vintage and an antique bobbin. I used an old spool and covered it with batting and seam binding. Next some rusty wire and of course, some jewels. I added a tag featuring a doll face and pretty lace.

WAY OUT OF MY BOX
Well, yesterday I was struck with an idea, my muse was screaming at me to pay attention. I did. She was taking me way out of my comfort zone....but you know what, it was fun. This just came together and I am not sure if I will sell it or not, not a very cohesive piece in my shop!?! But she may make her way there, we shall see. Now for sale: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=40715374
I used an old spool and covered it with batting and seam binding. Next some rusty wire and of course, some jewels. This is one of the doll heads I have remaining from the lot of doll parts I found last year. So here is the new assemblage, "hey Doll face".
Sidenote: I wish you could have seen my husbands face when I showed this to him this morning, priceless... lol
