Why do you get some that are just luscious, and then of course you buy more. And guess what???
Yep, mushy... icky.... will not let go of the pit.
You have that moment of dread, and when you finally get the flesh pulled away, it is bad.
Am I doing something wrong?
Should I buy them hard, and let ripen in paper bags, or is there some wives tale I am missing out on.
I find it with peaches too, so I opt for the nectarines.
Sigh...
What say you?
Oh I KNOW!!!! I don't know if there is an art to choosing but I hate when this happens!!! I dislike the mushy kind so much and yet I don't like them rock hard either... xo
ReplyDeleteI just think it's so hard to find any stone fruit that is worth eating from the grocery store. We planted a nectarine tree a few years ago and I can sure tell the difference in the quality of fruit.
ReplyDeleteThere must be a secret to choosing the right nectarines from the grocery store...but I sure don't know the secret. I've always had the same problem as you.
With my tree being so handy in the backyard, I don't buy nectarines anymore.
xoxo
