Georgia Peaches

On our recent trip to the Gulf Coast, more about that soon... We had to drive to have to.
Along the side of the road was a stand with Georgia Peaches.  YUM... So we bought 2 little baskets and the peaches were huge.  And sweet and perfect.  We shared some with friends, after soaking them in Grey Goose Vodka, refreshing on a hot humid night... I brought the rest home and made a little peach crumble for dessert last night.
The recipe looked good, although I didn't have a lemon on hard which it called for, but of course I would have limes.  I think I would omit EITHER if I made this again.  I don't think it would need it.  And this is what we devoured.

Of course, add Blue Bell ice cream...always!

    • 6 cups peeled sliced ripe peaches
    • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
    • 3 tablespoons flour
    • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
    • 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest, grated
    • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

    • 1 cup flour
    • 1 cup sugar
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
    • 1 eggs, beaten
    • 1/2 cup butter, melted and cooled

  1. Heat oven to 375*.
  2. Put peach slices in greased, shallow 11x7 baking dish.
  3. Mix brown sugar, flour, lemon juice, peel, and cinnamon.
  4. Sprinkle over the peaches.
  5. Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
  6. Stir in egg until mixture is coarse crumbs.
  7. Sprinkle over peaches.
  8. Drizzle butter evenly over topping.
  9. Bake for 38 minutes.

  1. I love anything with peaches and I love any kind of crumble (my mother-in-law used to make rhubarb crumble every summer as it grew in abundance in her garden)...I've got a basket of nectarines from the farmer's market and I'm going to make this with family will be mighty surprised that I "baked" something when I haven't in so long!!! :)

Peaches soaked in Grey Goose...the geese probably weren't the only things flying high!!! *snort*

  2. yum! Thanks for sharing - will have to keep my eye out for some peaches but I bet this would be great with any stone fruit

  3. Those look delightful! That's my favorite fruit! Peaches and Plums! Great post!
