one day at a time...

Can it be only since Sunday I have been here?  Wow, it feels like so much has happened. My wait as you know was so very hard for me, and finally I am here…
It was so good to see my mom and dad and see for myself how things are. I am so happy to be here and happy I am able to be here without the worries of a job right now, I do miss home. My hubby and my dogs…absence does make the heart grow fonder, it is true.
My mom is at the skilled care, and will be for a good while I am afraid. She is trying hard to stay focused and do what needs to be done. She still has 2 weeks to go, no weight on her leg, because of the 2 new stress fractures in her hip. It is hard for her and sad for her…
Dad had his back surgery on Monday, he is doing well with his recovery of that, but a bit of a set back with a urinary problem, he sees a specialist in a week, so he will come home but with a catheter…he is not crazy about that! He will have some home care with that. They say this is normal for men his age, post op. They have missed each other and it is hard on them both. Maybe a wee visit with mom on his way home from the hospital, if Dr.’s allow. It will be good for them both.
So I am staying focused and staying positive and taking things one day at a time…lots to keep me busy and motivated…many visits with her…once dad comes home, getting him back on track and then we all can be there for mom and cheer her on…I believe, but it will all be in God’s time, not ours.

  3. I'm so sorry you are having to go through this with your Mom and Dad. Maybe since they are both recooperating now, that when they are both finished mending, their quality of time together will be so much better. It sounds like neither one of them are able to take care of the other, and this way they are each being taken care of by someone else for now!

  4. I hope they both recover as quickly as can be and you can find some peace. I hope you brought some art things to work on, at least a journal so you can just let go there... thinking of you sweetie!! Hugs

  6. Kathy I am so happy you are now with your parents. That cuts down the worry of not being there even though you all have so much to cope with.
God holds you all in his hands my friend.x
