It is a very bittersweet day for me today...

My Mom is coming home today, and I am thrilled and over the moon for this day to be here...for all of us, but mostly for her.  And for my Dad.  It is days like this, when I would love to be with them, and here I am so far away...They are always "with" me...
There is still healing for her to do and she will have to get used to things at home again.  She will be watched like a hawk, from my Dad who is a bit apprehensive, we all are...but this is a day we have all prayed for.  We have to have faith and know she is ready to come home...
I will hold onto the memories I have of my time spent with my mom and dad, and know when I get home again to see them, she will be much stronger that when I saw her last.
So, so proud of the work she has done and the things she has gone through.  And so grateful for the good people who have helped her at the re-hab facility.

an update on mom

Well, in less than a week now I will be flying (God help me...) to be with mom and dad.  This has been one of the longest weeks of my life, and theirs as well.  I will soon be able to see them and be with them and do for them.  These last days have been so hard for me, waiting, wondering and not knowing things until I get a call, any call.
Mom is in skilled care now, she has had 2 days of PT and they are very slow going, she is still in much pain.  Her RA is adding to this pain and we found she is not getting her RA meds, so looking into a few things... she is being seen by different Dr.'s and just need to get them all on one page.  As with any hospital there are good care givers and some not so good.  Staff is short handed and things happen, but this is our mom...so we will be very pro-active in her care.  I hope each new days gives her a stronger feeling and she will be able to push past the pain to do the re-hab needed.
Dad will have his back surgery on Monday, and I pray his recovery will be smooth and speedy.  He will have a disc removed and they seem to think his pain in his hip will be stopped from this, praying this is so.  He is tired and sore but determined to see mom each day, so he is pushing himself.  I have two very head strong parents, lol.
I have lots to do this week  to prepare, but I am still having lots of stress and worry...gosh I wish I was moving thru this quicker...but I am thinking clearer and trying my best to stay positive.
Now off to work out, as this is a HUGE stress relief for me.

prayers

A call from my sister yesterday, sent me into a tail spin.  My mom had fallen in her bedroom and they called the ambulance to take her to the hospital.  I was in Walmart picking up things for a dinner guest, I was in utter shock.  I have feared this for so long, mom is so frail and RA has invaded much of her body.  Her bones are so fragile, it happened.
She is in Pennsylvania, I am in Louisiana as many of you know.  Finally I got the word, that her hip was fractured.  She is headed to surgery soon, they will do a partial replacement. I am overwhelmed by the prayers coming her way, via Facebook.  My sister also reached out to her contacts, I know she is being prayed for.  I am very worried and almost numb...My Dad was scheduled for back surgery on the 29th, I am so wanting him to go ahead with it, as he has been suffering with pain for 3 months.  We can ask them to consider, but it will be his decision.  I do think mom will be facing re-hab afterwards and this is her big fear... she thinks nursing home when she hears re-hab.  But she did it with her heart surgery a year ago, and did well.  I hope for the same this time and a short stay.
So many emotions today, I am trying as best I can to stay in the moment and not let fear take over my thoughts. It is so hard for me to do...a lesson in this, I know it....I need to quiet myself and listen for it.
I am trying to decide when to go, what to do, how long can I stay... my heart wants me there now, but I talked with my dad and think I will sit tight until we know more.  I feel so alone in my decision, I feel conflict in my head and from those around me... I don't need that.
Update: I spoke to my sweet momma, so happy all went well.  I needed to hear her voice and know she was safe.  I hope she recovers quickly and does all she can to get through her re-hab and move forward.
